Mark Zuckerberg owes the iPad-using public big time for not releasing a Facebook app until today. The Facebook team says they're going to release one very very soon, but a blogger apparently released it for them. Believe it or not, the long-awaited Facebook app for iPad is actually secretly embedded on the iPhone's Facebook app code.
Hence, the much-awaited app was just right below our noses all along, where MG Siegler put it as "if you know where to look, or if you can read this code, you can find those secrets". MG Siegler was the one who revealed it to the public, while an engineering student from Canada named Marvel Bernal was the very first one who discovered it.
Inside the Facebook iPad App
There are a lot of notable improvements on the iPad app, as compared to the iPhone app which has already been criticized a lot even by the creator of the app himself. The menu options of the app has been significantly improved. It has a menu system that would show up on the left side of the screen whenever the user flicks on the screen. If you want to start chatting, then all you have to do is to turn the iPad horizontally and a list of your online friends is going to show up.
All the juicy parts of Facebook is already in this app except for one last thing - the games, which are all third-party applications so it's understandable why it's not included yet. We're just hoping that someday they would be accommodated in an app as well.
How to Install the Facebook App on Your iPad
Now, the next question is how does one access this hidden iPad app? One thing's for sure, the iPad has to be jailbroken first before it could accommodate and let the magical Facebook app appear. Facebook launched a ban for the app not too long after the exposure, but of course, the jailbreakers have also launched a counter-attack on the ban. The discovered iPad app is already here, and the launch of the official app is still unknown so of course, it's only natural for the experts to hold on to what they have discovered. Let us present you the steps on how to launch the app anyway.
First, is that you need to jailbreak your iPad. There is a separate post on how to do this. Next is install the Facebook app for the iPhone. If you have followed the first step, then you should have a Cydia app on your Home screen already. Open it, and search for FaceForward. Once you have found it, install it on your iPad. Once it has finished installing, it will prompt you to reboot your iPad, and after you did, try out your Facebook app. It should be working perfectly now.
This app is already out in the public so it shouldn't take too long for the Facebook team to finally launch an official one. We're expecting within this month, or next month at the latest.
