The Smurfs, a popular cartoon for children has been adapted to the big screen and 3D view. Now, the film with Neil Patrick Harris and Hank Azaria is coming for iPhone and iPad to accompany the film which will debut on July 29. The app called “The Smurfs Movie Storybook” and developed by iStoryTime, a mobile children book app publisher.
The app is aiming for the Smurfs fans to follow the story before watching the movie. The iOS storybook costs $2.99. It has images from the film and the celebrity character voiceovers. It also provides you narrated reading with both manual flip or auto play. To add more fun, there is also a “Spot The Mistakes” game.
It seems that an app to accompany the movie has became a must in today's industry. For the iOS game, The Smurfs Movie already has The Smurfs Village which is similar with Farmville. Beside that, iStoryTime itself has a good relationship with Sony Pictures to make the storybook app for their films. Previously, they were the publisher of Kung Fu Panda 2, The Penguins of Madagascar, Transformer Mix & Match, and Shrek Forever After.
